To Restore a Database to its Original Form

You can restore a database to the date that the database was backed up and last saved. When you restore you are overwriting all data that may exist in the current database that is in use. It is recommended that you restore your database only when NeXus support has recommended this option.

To RESTORE from the XSport menu toolbar (toolbar: Is the menu bar at the top of the main screen with the buttons and options that you use to carry out commands.)
1.        Select the Tools option.
2.        Select the Restore Database option from the submenu.
3.        Identify the location of where the backup file is located using the […] button, once found click OPEN.
4.        In the SQL Server Details, there are typically only 2 fields that need to be modified from the defaults.
A) Ensure the database name that you are restoring is the same that is showing in the field Restore to Database. To do this verify the database name from your back up file. Using the file naming methodology the name of your database can be easily determined.
Current date using format <yyymmdd> + -NeXus-XSport + <name of database>. bak.
Example 070630nexusSchedbase, where the date of the backup was on June 30 2007, name of the database is Schedbase.

B) Ensure the checkbox Replace Existing Database is selected.
It is not needed to modify any other field unless NeXus Support has provided you with alternate directions.

5.
Click Restore Database. A message box should pop to say Restore Succeeded.
6.        Click OK

6.        Verify that your data and seasons have recovered. Do this by returning to the main XSport screen and select the drop down option under Select Season to Work With. If you see none this may be due to the ORG Code not set correctly. To set the ORG Code from the XSport menu toolbar (toolbar: Is the menu bar at the top of the main screen with the buttons and options that you use to carry out commands.)

7.        Select the File option.
8.        Select the Open option from the submenu.
9.        Verify the name of the Org Code from the SQL Server Details Screen. By default, this name upon first setup is NXS if you have customized this please change this back to the name that you had previously set.
10.      Click Open Database.
11.      In the SQL Server Details, there are typically only 2 fields that need to be modified from the defaults.
12.      Verify that your data has been recovered. Do this by returning to the main XSport screen and select the drop down option under Select Season to Work With. If you run into issues contact NeXus Support .
